BIC Surf 6'2" Shortboard
The 6'2" is for the shortboarders amongst us. If it's easy down the line action you're looking for the 6'2" is where it's at. A subtle blend of fast charging action, yet ease of use, the 6'2" is a remarkably easy board to ride despite its charging character. Its moderate rocker line ensures it catches waves easily and planes early. Combine that with its light weight CTS construction and you have a board that provides a true shortboard experience at a great price.
The rocker is the curved profile of the board looked at from the side. Rocker templates are a closely guarded secret of all successful shapers. The design brief for the 6'2" was to provide enough rocker to maintain a true shortboard feel, while making the board as easy as possible for new shortboarders to enjoy.

The volume distribution is an important factor in ensuring not only that the board is well balanced while surfing, it also has a lot to do with how easy or difficult the board is to paddle into a wave. Getting it right is critical to the BIC Surf design criteria. The key is lowering the overall volume of the board as much as possible by only utilizing volume where it's necessary and advantageous. In terms of the 6'2" that area is right under the surfer while they are in the lying position. It's here that well distributed volume translates into easy of use by aiding in catching waves early and easily.
The rail profile describes the shape and volume of the rail and the amount of volume contained in them. The 6'2" starts out with soft, rolled rails through the front section of the board, moving in to hard rail in the back section and through to the tail. The soft rail in the front provides easy turning and control; while the harder rails through the rear provide bite to the water surface when going through the turns.

CTS Technology (Composite Thermoformed Structure)
The CTS process is very different to ACS and caters to a different, generally wider market. Although not as durable as our ACS construction it is approximately 30% more durable while being almost identical with regard to stiffness and weight when compared to a similar polyester constructed surfboard. To accommodate the needs of more advanced surfers, CTS surfboards provide shapes that not only suit the intermediate surfer, but also experienced riders who know how to ride a surfboard.
The process forms the top and bottom - (ASA) surfaces of the board over aluminium moulds. These formed surfaces are then pressed over a pre-shaped, lightweight EPS foam core, (the lightest surfboard foam available) which is covered in 6-oz fibre glass cloth and epoxy resin to give the board strength.
This construction provides an extremely stiff, lightweight surfboard that is approximately 30% more durable than a standard polyester surfboard but almost identical with regard to its flex characteristics and weight.
